REASON FOR TRANSL: Population being exterminated by feral cats, removed to predator free located to protect remaining population (170) CAPTURE METHOD: Birds located using muzzled dogs, and then caught by hand. (6) LENGTH OF TRANSPORT: Time varied from <8 to 24 hrs. (6) CAPTURE SITE: 4 birds were transferred from Maud Island, where they had been previously translocated (3 from Stewart Island, 1 from Fiordland). (6) POPULATION STATUS: All birds were transferred from Little Barrier Island to other locations from 1998 to 1999 (10).
