REARING TYPE: Young chicks were removed for hand-raising from natural and aritificial nests at age 5-15 days from 1991 to 1993. They were raised in small boxes and not isoalted from human contact. RELEASE #: A total of 20 macaws were released from 1992 to 1995. The birds were not held in cages and releases consisted of individual fleding age birds (80-100 days) flying int to the forest. SUPPLEMENTAL FEEDING post-fledging playing role in surveying the populations. POST-RELEASE SURVIVAL: of 20 released, 55% still alive as of March 2002.
