Notes: What's This?
Chicks were reared on-site. PURPOSE: experimentally release isolation-reared sandhill cranes in a wintering ground with no resident cranes to see if they could learn migration routes from wintering conspecifics. RELEASE SITE: No wild cranes at WWR- after failed releases at 2 more sites, remaining cranes (4) were transfered to Laguna Atascosa NWR Jan 6 '89. These became too tame from association with humans & were transferred to zoos Mar '90.
