Study done to determine procedures for releasing Whooping cranes into wild using sandhill cranes as surrogates. RELEASE DATES: Aug 24- Sept 7. ACCLIMATIZATION DURATION: Were allowed to leave release pen whenever they were ready. NOTE: Chicks did not migrate with wild flock. Chicks were broken up into smaller groups & relocated to try to induce migration. 7/13 made it to target wintering site.
