RELEASE DATE: Date birds were first allowed outside on their own. Were kept in aviary from Aug-Nov to prevent dispersal. REARING TYPE: 17 hand reared, 7 parent reared. 7 of 17 reared w/ cattle egrets to see if that helped socialization (it didn't). For hand- reared birds,human foster parents wore black t-shirts & ibis shaped hats to minimize imprinting on humans. CAUSE OF DEATH: 2 predation, 1 ingested wire, 1 electrocution, 1 power line collision, 1 hit by car, 2 unknown. 6 more dead, 4 missing by Sept '06. 1 more missing by Sept '10.
