RELEASE DATE: Date birds were first allowed outside on their own. Were kept in aviary from Aug-Nov to prevent dispersal. REARING TYPE: 21 hand reared, 2 parent reared. 10 of 21 reared w/ cattle egrets to see if that helped socialization (it didn't).For hand- reared birds,human foster parents wore black t-shirts & ibis shaped hats to minimize imprinting on humans. SIMILAR PROCEDURE: No- this project was trying to develop release procedures. CAUSE OF DEATH: 3 from Eagle Owl, 3 from ingesting wires, 1 electrocution, 1 power line collision, 1 hit by car. 2 more dead & 4 missing by Sept '06.
