Notes: What's This?
In September and October 2007, a totaly of 12 Hawaii Akepas were released into Kipuka 21 to establish a new resident breeding population. A release aviary was erected on a raised platform with predator proff flashing. 5 release events were staggered over the course of the month, but the source indicates that this included the release of a total of 6 Hawaii Creepers in the same release site. Also, the source notes that 3 releases were hard and 2 were soft (i.e. 10 days in the aviary prior to release). It is now known the exact dates of the releases during Oct-Sept 2007, which species was released (Akepa vs. Creeper), how many were released on specific dates (Akepa = 12 total, creeper = 6 total), and which releases were soft vs. hard. The release date here is an arbitrary number in the known release month and year.
