All 18 birds were of unknown sex, but 8 were thought to be male and 10 thought to be female. 2 of the 18 were thought to be juveniles all othere were adults. SOURCE SITE #: 6 Whiteheads came from Maungataniwha Forest and 12 came from Boundary Stream. CAPTURE DATE: The capture date listeed is the first capture date for this release event: 4 birds were captured on 5/14, 2 on 5/15, 8 on 5/17, and 4 on 5/18/2008. DEATHS: "Other" indicates that the birds died during holding and transport prior to May 18th, 2008: 2 died in the Maungataniwha aviary on May 15th and May 17th respectively. 2 other Whiteheads from Boundary Steam died - one in the box on the release date and one shortly after release. Stress from a falcon may have induced this. These were the only recorded deaths during this entire project to the release site.
