Between August 2006 and April 2008, 26 kokako were released in the Hanua in four separate translocations. This event took place between 6 and 11 October 2007, wherein there were 3 separate releases of the 4 kokakos. The source population was from Waipapa. There was no intensive monitoring, but a subsample of 6 pairs (release date unknown from 06-08) demonstrated 4 dependent fledglings. 2 of the 4 birds have been resighted since their release.
