Between August 2006 and April 2008, 26 kokako were released in the Hanua in four separate translocations. This event took place between 7 Aug - 27 Sept 06, wherein there were 4 separate releases of the 14 kokakos. The source population was from Mapara. There was no intensive monitoring, but a subsample of 6 pairs (release date unknown from 06-08) demonstrated 4 dependent fledglings. 13 of the 14 birds have been resighted since their release.
