Nov 01, 2005 / Rota Island / Guam rail
47 birds were released at Apanon, Rota Island. 11 were equipped with transmitters. 2 died from monitor lizards, 2 died from cat predation, and 2 dropped their transmitters. 16 were monitored to be alive on March 16th 2005. There was a persistent populatino observed through 2008 with consistent reproduction. Releases are continual as is monitoring. SURVIVAL 60 DAYS POST RELEASE: 36% of guam rails with transmitters. This is over 6 releases at Apanon (Nov 05, Sept 06, Jan 07, Jun 07, Sept 07, Jan 08 ).
