Aug 01, 1985 / Eastern Egg Rock (Muscongus Bay) / Atlantic Puffin
This release was described as happening in the spring despite a July capture date. Because of this, the release site date is listed at August, but this is merely arbitrary.
EGG ROCK UPDATE REPORTS 1985-1996: All note increase in breeding pairs on Egg Island. There is also an emphasis on the increasing number of nonbanded, immigrant puffings that are breeding on the island (most likely coming from Matinicus Rock nearby). Updates read as follows: 1985 - increase to 14 breeding pairs, 33 of which were transplants; 1986 - 19 pairs nesting, 31 were transplated between 1976 and 1980, 5 breeders unbanded and probably from nearby Matinicus rock or Seal Island; 1988 - 16 breeding pairs in the summer, 26 transplanted; 1989 - only 6 of the 534 transplanted puffins from 1984-1987 translocations returned;
